Bill Cooke of NASA offers this advice: "Watch the sky during the hours around local midnight. For North Americans, this means Sunday night to Monday morning."

Deep Space Dreaming

Apropos of the Geminid Meteor Shower on Sunday December 13-14th, NASA just released this image from the Hubble Space Telescope showing never before seen galaxies.

NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has made the deepest image of the universe ever taken in near-infrared light. A Wide Field Camera was installed in August, 2009 which allows Hubble to look even deeper into the Universe.

As an artist, I look for new interesting materials to use. I am intrigued with what new technologies bring to the design world. I want this book. But wait...it's not on my list of 100 things to have.

Transmaterial 2: A Catalog of Materials That Redefine Our Physical Environment

Written by Blaine Brownell is an architect, materials researcher, and sustainable building advisor. He is also the recipient of a Fulbright fellowship to Japan for 2006-2007.

Tuesday Themes of Longevity and Sustainability 

Photographer, Rachel Sussman is presently working a a project she calls The Oldest Living Things in the World. She travels around the world to make photographs of the oldest continuously living organisms on the planet. Her work is generating a dialogue amongst scientists whose research is otherwise too specialized to provide a comprehensive picture of global species longevity.
