Makiko Wakisaka

Makiko Wakisaka

Thanks to Connecticut fiber artist, Morna Crites-Moore, for pointing me to the artwork of  Makiko Wakisaka.
This piece looks eerily similar to the nests made by Turkish Bees.

Exhibited in Asia Fiberart Exhibition, miniature,
Fukuoka, Japan, 2001

Chrysalis, detail

Cocoon, detail
I fondly recall seeing Cocoon at the 2007 Pfaff Embroidery Challenge in London, U.K.
Small world!
Thanks Morna!

I like the detail image of this piece called Cell

  1. I count Makiko Wakisaka as one of my favorite artists. I just wish that I could some day see her works in person. Thanks for sharing her with your readers.

  2. You made some beautiful choices of what to show. I am in the same camp as Valerie .... feel very fortunate to even have seen pictures of her work.

Thanks for the link to my blog, too. That is very nice of you.

  3. I feel fortunate to be have good company in you two (and others) on the web. Thank you again Morna, for seeing the similarity between the bees and Makiko!

  4. Thanks to Morna and Christine for introducing this artist to me. It takes my breath away.

I always enjoy reading comments!
