Much to my delight, Erin Endicott and Bruce Hoffman placed 4 of my pieces in the show.
Affliction, 8 x 12 inches, hand stitched thread on linen, 2012 |
Target Cell, 8 x 10 inches, hand stitch thread on linen, 2012 |
Guide, 20 x 21 inches, hand stitched silk/wool thread on wool skirt (remnant), felt and eco dyed silk patch, 2011 |
Remnant, 13 x 19 inches hand stitched thread on linen, 2012 |
The opening reception is today, Sunday, March 4, 2012 and I wish I could be there to meet the artists in the show, see their work, and meet other like-minded fiber enthusiasts. I 'Googled' each of the artists and feel humbled to be included in a show with these fine fiber artists:
Renie Breskin Adams, Emily Barletta, Adam Cohen, Marcia Docter, Erin Endicott, Karen Hampton, Alison Mercer, Kathryn Pannepacker, and Ellen Schinderman
I hope you spend time looking at their sites and being as excited to see some terrific fiber art today!
And, if you're in Philadelphia, stop in at Kellijane and report back to me!
721 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA.
The show is up through April 2, 2012.
Oh! Thursday can't come soon enough for me...I'll be taking the train to Philly and will definitely stop by Kellijane to see your pieces. Congratulations on having 4 included!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, it'd be lovely if you did visit Kellijane and let me know how everything looks. And please share about the other shows too!
DeleteI'll definitely post about my favorites and will happily stop by Kellijane.
DeleteLove the piece of Dorothy Caldwell's in your side bar, by the way. Taking her mark making class at Peters Valley Craft Center in 2006 is what changed my artistic life.
Thank you Jennifer. I see that we have a common mentor in Dorothy. I took a master class with her in 2009 and a Kantha stitch class when she was here in Dec. 2011. Sigh..
DeleteI am so happy for you! Remnant is really speaking to me.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, I hope it speaks "go to work in your studio!" heh heh.
DeleteAll kidding aside, thank you for 'hearing'.
this is good news. 'guide' isn't just speaking...it's singing to me
ReplyDeleteI am happy, let it sing.
DeleteFabulous. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteEvery single one of these pieces sings for me. Beautiful heart felt, simple, honest, authentic work.

came back again to look, i did leave a comment before, but maybe it got lost, congrats and the third piece, guide, is especially delicious. well done, indeed.
ReplyDeleteOh food for the soul Velma! Guide is my fav too!
ReplyDeleteChristine.. your work is beautiful and the show is wonderfully intimate in that setting. I will be speaking at the SDA/SAQA conference this Friday and will mention how much I enjoyed the show and your work in particular. If ever you get to Philadelphia I would love to meet you. I have a studio in the Crane ( the building that is housing Outside/Inside etc. for FiberPhiladelphia. The building alone is worth the trip... and I love my studio. You can see some of it on my blog. ReplyDeleteDianne, I am honored that you took the time to seek me out and to tell me that you'll mention my work during your talk. I hope to get to Philadelphia sometime soon and I'll look you up!
