Preparing my work for shows
I thought I'd give you a peek at what I'm up to these days.
As I mentioned in this post here. I'll be in a show.
I've been stitching my hand-embroidered maps onto 1/2" thick 100% wool felt.
The felt block will be surrounded by a deep frame with no cover (i.e. no plex or glass)
I want the viewer to be able to really enjoy the stitches.
I'll share more later this month.
Enjoy!
I draw maps of places I've been.
This one is stitched onto vintage table linen. Then I stitched the linen onto 1/2" wool felt.
I am happy to see your work on your blog. I will await patiently your announcement of when and where your work will be on display. This will call for a road trip.
ReplyDeletetruly gorgeous stuff.
ReplyDeletesimple complexity, if that's possible.
one of these days we may have to organise a group show...there are a few of us about who map, one way or another
might be fun to fill a space together...
Thank you for your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteIndia, I'd be in heaven to show my work along side yours.
such controlled quiet in your mark making. i enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see what you are working on! I can't wait to see a more detailed image and at some point the real thing. Using the felt as a backing is an elegant idea.
ReplyDeleteBeen meaning to comment on this - love love this work. Looking forward to seeing more.
