A few pieces I'm fleshing-out.
Both relate to cells within the human body. They are intended to be fantasy.
The first is about a harmonic cell life.
The second piece is about how bad cells might attach themselves to hemoglobin.
I will most likely continue to stitch on the first, but I think the 2nd piece is done.
Thoughts appreciated.
Cheers!
They are both absolutely gorgeous! So elegant and playful at the same time and what amazing surface, texture and mark making! You're in inspiration! Cheers, Patti
ReplyDeleteThank you Patti!
DeleteLovely. I really prefer the dark one--slightly more intriguing composition, whereas the light "cheery" one is mostly compelling due to the heavily stitched surface. I'm assuming they are each about 5" x 7" or so, right?
ReplyDeleteThe black piece is 5 x 7 inches, the cheery one is 8 x 12 inches.
DeleteI agree with preference for the darker piece. Thanks Barbara.
I really like your present choice of subject matter. Micro-organisms in the body are so glorious an area to mine, with hardly anyone exploring there, and I think that this is a wonderful area which lends itself so beautifully to your stitching technique. I look forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeletei bet you've positively influenced the cells in your own body with these beautiful representations.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sentiment. I'll take it. From your thoughts to my body.
DeleteI just love mark making and you do it so well. Always a joy and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen. I appreciate your kind words.
Deletei like them both especially the second, maybe because i'm in that sort of place. but they are both rich. and eloquent.
ReplyDeleteI love them both, though I prefer the first, which reminds me more of a plant organism than a cellular view... your stitching is very, very even and creates a lovely texture
ReplyDeleteYes, I see what you mean Dee, thank you for your support.
DeleteThese are wonderful Chris! I especially connect with black piece with the red spot. Keep that needle flying.
ReplyDeleteI will Terry, I'm trying to let the needle flow.
DeleteI read all of your posts but I rarely comment. I am really interested in your work.
ReplyDeleteIf you want our opinions, I do agree with you about the second one. And I would say I miss a center of attention in the first one, to create some contrast and movement. Maybe in the upper right corner
Hello. I read your interview with "Missouri Bend Paper Works" today and am very interested in your beautiful work. Love to see more of your work in progress. Have a nice week end!
