A Pojagi trial, in my window
The seams are finished on both the front and
back of the work. Much like a flat felled seam (my guess).

I decided to try my hand at it.
This technique dates back to the 12th century in Korea.
Traditionally, it is hand-sewn together

Korean Fiber Artist, Chunghie Lee has written a lovely book
I would like to find a library to loan me a copy
but it is available here.
I love the Bojagi - it's a current passion of mine - what you have made is really beautiful
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words and for appearing here in my blog comments. I simply adore your blog and your self-imposed challenge to make a letter a week!

May would be good....
Would that I could. I am already going on a short trip in May.
DeleteI improved some pojagi-inspired curtains a little over a year ago out of thrifted linen. I found them really fun and satisfying to make. Yours are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNot improved, improvised....Spell check!
DeleteHello Jennifer, I am pleased that you commented because I was able to hope over to your blog. I wonder whether you posted about your curtains. Would love to see them!
DeleteHi. Thanks for asking. I'm always happy to show off my experiments. I think Pojagi must be in the air because this is one of my most viewed posts lately.

Chunghie Lee.......another 'Rock Star' in the world of fibers. I love this technique....and your first attempt is inspiring! I love how it looks like a collage of your sketches.
ReplyDeleteI might have to cut up more of my old stitched work to make another piece.
Deletei like the clean and lovely craftsmanship of these, your including that patch and then your embroidered chain bit make it so strong.
ReplyDeleteThank you Velma.
