Preserving Favorite Work Items

Apron, repaired and patched by me and previously by my momma.
I hand-stitched onto some of my old dishclothes.

Aprons are a marvelous piece of apparel. I used to daydream that I would become a nun, mostly to be able to wear a long black frock. OK, that has nothing to do with aprons...
This good old gal has been mine for 20 years or so. My mom repaired it a few times and reinforced the neck loop.
I'm thinking about doing some hand-stitching all over this white helper.
Stay tuned.
The machine stitched lines are from when my mom repaired my apron.

Update on this piece, I've removed the crosses and have started to stitch more circles onto the surface.  To be continued...

    1. Velma, I was going to keep the crosses, but they didn't resonate with me for this piece. They were an attempt to fill space. My mindset for the blue piece is circular and about the concept of time. Thank you for your comments.

  2. I love that you are working more repairs where your mom has already made her marks. That is so cool, does't get much better then that!

  4. Just last week I pulled out a corduroy jacket my mother sewed for me when I was a baby and a doll dress my great grandmother sewed for my baby doll and an apron my mother made for herself when I was a tot. Don't know what to do with them just yet, but I do love looking at them, having them close by.
